Weapon: The Dragon Mace is a great choice due to its crush attack style, which is effective against the Wilderness boss, Calvarion. It has the same attack speed as a scimitar but uses a crush, making it perfect for this task.
Entry Fee: Accessing the Calvarion boss requires a 50,000 gold entry fee. Each kill reduces this fee by 10,000 gold, so if we get five kills in a row without dying, we won’t need to pay to enter again.
Cost Management: Given our tight budget, we’ll allocate only half of our 100K to gear and supplies. We’ll buy:
- Climbing Boots: 200 GP
- Super Combat Potion: 1,500 GP
- Prayer Potion: 2,000 GP
Essential Gear:
- Salve Amulet (Enchanted): This item, which boosts damage against undead monsters, is crucial. It’s cheap and provides a significant advantage against Calvarion.
- Royal Seed Pod: For easy teleportation out of the Wilderness. Alternatively, you could use an Amulet of Glory or a Ring of Wealth.
Additional Gear:
- Rune Gloves: 5,000 GP for a solid upgrade.
- Monk Robes: For decent overall protection and cost-efficiency.
- Prayer Book: Minimal but useful for a slight prayer bonus.
With these preparations, we’re ready to head into the Wilderness and face Calvarion.
Bossing in the Wilderness
Calvarion is an accessible boss with relatively low requirements. The key to success is understanding its mechanics:
- Lightning Strikes: Move to avoid damage. The strikes appear at least one tile away from your character.
- Summoned Dogs: At half HP, Calvarion will summon dogs that need to be killed before you can continue attacking.
- Shield Bash Attack: This can prevent you from attacking for several seconds. Manage your position to avoid it.
With the Dragon Mace and Salve Amulet, our damage output is quite effective, and the fights go smoothly.
The First Few Kills
On our first kill, we earn three Super Restores and some Super Compost, which isn’t too bad. Subsequent kills yield Death Runes and other useful items. As we sell these drops, our bank starts to grow. Here’s a breakdown of our progress:
- Kill #1: Three Super Restores and some Super Compost
- Kill #2: 120 Death Runes and food drops
- Kill #5: Skeleton item worth 411K (although it’s not highly valuable, it’s a good addition)
Reinvesting for Better Gear
With the profit from our first few kills, we make some strategic upgrades:
- Bandos Page Set: 15,000 GP for a prayer bonus and strength boost.
- Mythical Cape: 10,000 GP for a strength bonus.
- Proselyte Gear: Increases prayer bonus and helps save on prayer potions.
- Black Dragonhide: Improves magic defense, useful for avoiding PKers.
Dealing with PKers
PKers are a constant threat in the Wilderness. Our strategy includes:
- Teleporting: Quick escape method if we’re in danger.
- Freezing: Using Ice Barrage to freeze and escape when teleporting isn’t an option.
- Black Dragonhide: For better defense against magic attacks.
Continuing the Grind
Our efforts start to pay off as we make significant progress:
- Grimy Renards: 350K from a single kill.
- Ring of the Gods: Worth 4.1 million GP, a significant upgrade for our bank.
Upgrading Weapons and Gear
With our increased cash stack:
- Serakness Cudgel: A better crush weapon than the Dragon Mace, priced around 200K.
- Helm of Neitiznot: For additional bonuses.
- Dragonfire Shield: 3.5 million GP for substantial strength and defensive bonuses.
